Benefits of Discerning of Spirits
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
When the gift of discerning of Spirits is in operation, intents and motives are exposed and revealed. Jesus often saw the hearts of men. He rewarded and rebuked mainly based on the intents of people’s hearts.
The gift of discerning of spirits is enhanced by study of the word of God and with prayer. The word of a God has potent power to search the heart of anyone and to make it plain. Nothing and no one can hide under the searchlight of Gods word.
When you operate in this gift, you will like Paul says know no Man in the flesh but discern everyone from the spirit.
How can we grow in this gift?
By use. When we do not use the gift, it becomes rusty. This is just like any other spiritual gift. We get better each time. There is no need you stopping to use and exercise your gift because-you made a mistake. Dust yourself from where you are. You made a mistake but with more time spent in the word of God and in prayer we become better with each day we exercise the gift. Practice makes perfect.
