I was at the airport in Johannesburg having a quick cup of coffee and sharing a table and fellowship with a dear woman of God. I felt The Lord cause me to lift my head and turn right ways just by the door of the coffee shop. I saw a woman standing by the door wearing a long red robe and the voice of God spoke “demonic priestess’ . I shook my head and the vision passed and now I saw the physical woman standing there by the door. A beautiful young lady was standing there physically.
The spiritual gift of discerning of Spirits is so important in the life of a believer. To discern means to be able to show what spirit is in operation in the life of a person. We are enabled by the Holy Spirit to discern both evil and good spirits.
Can anyone get this gift! Yes of course. All good gifts come from above from our father in heaven in whom there is no partiality. However, to get the gift of discerning of Spirits we need to desire the gift earnestly.
But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all–love]. (1 Corinthians 12:31 AMP)
When we ask we will receive from The Lord. Many times when people talk about Spiritual gift of discerning of spirits, they would normally emphasise evil spirits but we must know that when this gift is operational in our lives, we should also see the operation and manifestation of Gods spirit.
I remember some years ago whilst travelling with my husband and another brother when retuning from visiting a family from North West of London. The three of us in the car could see the angel following us on the air all the way from NW LONDON to Islington. It was such a soothing experience. We didn’t know why God opened our eyes to see that angel but it was good to know that truly He gives His angels charge over us and assigns them over us.
This Gift is important in our lives for so many reasons.
How can we live in today’s world without this gift. A world full of sweet talkers and deception and hypocrisy? The gift enables us know who is who and the spirit working with people.
It is a guide to know when it is a God thing and when it is not a God thing. Not everything that says God is of God.
